TEST ID WET WET PREP

Important Note

Direct microscopic examination of vaginal fluid or discharge for the presence of Trichomonas vaginalis, white blood cells, yeast, and clue cells (indication of bacterial vaginosis).

Specimen Required

1. Collect vaginal fluid or discharge from the posterior fornix using a sterile cotton swab or dacron swab.

2. Insert swab 2/3 into the tube of saline and break off remaining shaft of the swab, leaving swab in the tube and recap the saline.

3. Label tube with patient's name (first and last) or other unique identifier, patient's hospital identification number or Social Security number, date and time of collection, collectors initials, and test(s) being ordered.

4. Maintain sterility and promptly transport to the laboratory within 30 minutes
