Preferred: Clean, leak proof container (No preservative).  REFRIGERATE AFTER COLLECTION.

Acceptable: Yellow Top UA No Additve tube, Yellow/Red UA Additive tube, White Top No Additve tube.

 

Specimen Volume: 5.0 mL

A freshly voided urine sample without preservatives collected by the "clean catch" method is the specimen of choice. First morning urine yields the most meaningful results. Catheterized, Foley and random urine specimens are also acceptable.
