Important Note

This is a blood product for TRANSFUSION.

Initial order on patient will reflex to TSNB  (Type/Screen, Newborn) for infants less than 4 months old.

Standard product is O negative PRBC, CMV negative, irradiated, and Hgb S negative.

Preferred: K2 Pink Top or Lavender Top microtainer x 2
Specimen Volume: 2 full microtainers

 

Collection Instructions:

Draw 2 full, lavender-top or pink-top (K2 EDTA) MICROTAINERS and send to lab. Unique Blood Bank wristband number must be on specimen submitted to the Blood Bank.

Blood Product Information

  1. Indicate volume to be transfused.
  2. Appropriately labeled specimen which also includes the unique Blood Bank wristband number must be submitted to the lab. See below for specimen requirements.
  3. Consent for Transfusion of Blood and Blood Products must be obtained prior to transfusing.
