Collection Instructions:

Plasma no gel and gel tubes should be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection. 4 hours is acceptable.

Collection Instructions:

Collection of fine needle aspirate is done by physician. The collection procedure is included here for reference only.

o Pull 2 mL of sterile saline into a 3 or 5 mL syringe. (AddiPAK 0.9% NaCl solution used for flu/RSV kits or can be obtained from RT)

o Attach a appropriate gauge needle to the syringe.

o At least 2 or 3 passes are made through the tissue of interest with the appropriate gauge needle while applying suction to the syringe.

o After aspiration of tissue, draw up 1 mL of saline through the needle used on the tissue.

o Using proper safety device transfer the aspirate saline solution into a 3mL EDTA tube.
