Collection Container/Tube: Light-blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)
Submission Container/Tube: Plastic vial
Specimen Volume: 4.5 mL in 3 plastic vials each containing 1.5 mL
Collection Instructions:
Collect 4-5 Light-blue top (3.2% sodium citrate) tubes
Centrifuge specimens
Carefully remove plasma from cells, avoiding the platelet/buffy coat.
Dispense into a plastic tube using a plastic transfer pipette. Do not pour off!
Centrifuge aliquoted plasma.
Remove the top portion of plasma, leaving approximately 250 mcL in the bottom to discard, and place into plastic transport tubes.
The double-centrifuged plasma should be aliquoted into clearly labeled plastic tubes.
Aliquot plasma (1.2-1.5 mL per aliquot) into 3 separate plastic vials.
Freeze plasma immediately (no longer than 4 hours after collection)

3.5 mL ( 1.2 mL in each aliquot)
