Collection Instructions:

Patient Preparation: To avoid false negative results, no antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors, or a bismuth preparation should be administered to patient for 14 days prior to specimen collection.


Note: Common bismuth and proton pump inhibitors include the following:
Bismuth: pepto-bismol, kaopectate, pink bismuth.
Proton pump inhibitors: nexium, prevacid, zegerid and prilosec.


Transfer 10g(2g) stool to an unpreserved stool transport vial and Freeze.
Unacceptable Conditions: Leaking container, diapers, swabs or tissue. Specimens in media or preservatives.
