Preferred: Nasopharyngeal swab in sterile container with viral transport media.

  • Acceptable: Nasal Swab in sterile container with viral transport media.
  • Acceptable: NP or Nasal swab in sterile container-dry. *Short satbility-UTM must be added within 3 hrs.
  • Acceptable: Nasal Wash/Aspirate

Specimen Volume: 3.0 mL

Collection Instructions:

Nasopharyngeal specimen collected according to standard protocol using a nylon-flocked, flexible-shaft NP swab and placed in viral transport media (M4, M4-RT, M5, UTM-RT).

Note- Calcium alginate swabs will be rejected.
