TEST ID FETSCR FETAL SCREEN

Important Note

Only performed if mothers are Rh Negative and neonate is Rh positive.

If screen is positive, a new specimen will be collected and sent to a referral laboratory for Kleihauer-Betke stain.

Should NOT be ordered on patient's that have not recently delivered.

To determine if a fetal-maternal bleed has occured in a patient that is still pregnant, order a Kleihauer-Betke Stain.

Collection Instructions:

*Specimen should be collected within 1 hr post-delivery.

Collect blood into a K2 EDTA tube and send to the lab.
