Important Note

Specimens received and tested between 31 minutes to 2 hours will be resulted with the comment "Recommended specimen stability exceeded; results may be affected."

Specimens greater than 2 hours will be rejected.

Collection Instructions:

  • Tube should be filled completely and mixed by gently inversion.
  • The tube must be tightly capped at all times
  • Testing must be completed within 30 minutes of collection.
  • Samples received or tests ordered after 30 minutes post collection will contain a chartable comment on the result stating "Recommended specimen stability exceeded; results may be affected."
  • Samples received or tests ordered more than 2 hours post collection must be recollected.
  •  Whole blood samples should be transported to the lab at room temperature.
